Apple Valley Offers New Programs to Support Pet Health and Control Feral Cat Population

Sep 15, 2025 | News

The Town of Apple Valley has launched two new animal welfare initiatives aimed at reducing the local pet overpopulation and helping residents access veterinary services. Residents within town limits are now eligible to apply for a free Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program for truly feral cats, with priority given to females. Each household may receive up to four vouchers, and the process includes submitting an application, dropping off the cat at Apple Valley Animal Services, and picking it up post-vet visit to return it safely. Applications for the TNVR program open on August 26, 2025 at the AVAS facility located at 22131 Powhatan Rd.

Alongside this program, Apple Valley is also offering a limited-space spay/neuter clinic for household pets. Residents may submit one application per household—either in person or via mail—to participate, with proof of residency required later. The clinic has limited capacity, and the deadline to apply is September 17, 2025. Details on the date and time of the clinic are expected to be released soon.

These programs reflect Apple Valley’s commitment to responsible pet ownership, animal health, and community well-being. For more information or to apply, residents can contact Apple Valley Animal Services at (760) 240-7555 or visit the shelter website.
