The annual Run for the Wall made its way through the High Desert this week as hundreds of motorcyclists traveled east on a cross-country journey honoring America’s veterans, prisoners of war, those killed in action, and service members still listed as missing.
Now in its 36th year, the ride began in Ontario, California, with more than 400 riders participating in the tradition. One of the stops along the route included VHC Barstow, where riders spent time connecting with local veterans, staff, and residents before continuing their trip toward Washington, D.C.
The event has grown into a nationally recognized tribute focused on remembrance, healing, and unity within the veteran community. This year’s ride also places special emphasis on the 35th anniversary of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, honoring those who served during the conflict.
Residents and veterans at VHC Barstow gathered to welcome the riders, cheer them on, and share stories as the group continued its mission across the country. Organizers say the journey serves as a reminder that the sacrifices of military service members are not forgotten.
The ride will conclude at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day, before many participants continue on a secondary “Wall to Wall” ride to the Middle East Conflicts Wall in Marseilles, Illinois.
Run for the Wall participants document their progress each evening, allowing supporters across the country to follow the journey as it continues eastward.
