Adelanto Launches New Wireless Internet Initiative

May 13, 2026 | News

The City of Adelanto has completed the first phase of a new wireless internet project aimed at improving access to high-speed connectivity in underserved areas throughout the community.

The initiative, developed in partnership with technology company Peltbeam, Inc., uses advanced wireless repeater technology to deliver internet service without the need for traditional underground fiber installation. City officials say the system allows faster and more cost-effective deployment while helping expand internet access to areas where broadband infrastructure has historically been limited.

The initial rollout provides free outdoor wireless coverage in several public areas and nearby neighborhoods, including locations around City Hall, the community center, senior center, Public Works building, and local skate park.

One of the project’s unique features is the use of solar-powered wireless nodes, which help provide connectivity in areas without direct power infrastructure. At the skate park, the installation also includes upgraded lighting and a security camera designed to improve safety while offering public internet access.

Officials say the expanded connectivity will support educational programs, online services, community resources, and digital access for residents of all ages. At the senior center, the improved internet service is expected to help residents access telehealth services, virtual activities, and communication tools more easily.

City leaders also noted that the project was completed without impacting Adelanto’s General Fund, aligning with broader efforts to improve digital access and modernize infrastructure throughout the community.

A proposed second phase of the project is expected to be discussed during an upcoming City Council meeting and could include expanded wireless coverage and additional indoor connectivity solutions across the city.
