A Victor Valley High School student is being recognized on a national level for his hard work, leadership, and dedication both in and out of the classroom. Senior Xavier Hudson was recently awarded a highly competitive $200,000 Marine Corps NROTC scholarship, placing him among a select group of students chosen from applicants across the country.
The milestone was celebrated during a special presentation at the school’s Performing Arts Center, where Marines, school officials, family, and community members gathered to honor Hudson’s achievement. The scholarship is awarded to a limited number of candidates nationwide, highlighting the significance of his accomplishment.
The award will provide Hudson with the opportunity to attend a college or university that offers a Navy or Marine Corps ROTC program. He is currently exploring options including California State University, Fullerton and UCLA as he considers the next step in his academic journey.
Hudson’s success reflects a well-rounded high school experience. He has participated in athletics such as swimming, golf, and baseball, while also being actively involved in the school’s Air Force JROTC program. In addition to his academic and extracurricular commitments, he has pursued the arts, recently performing a leading role in the school’s production of Chicago.
Looking ahead, Hudson has expressed interest in a future career in law, with the possibility of serving as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the military.
School and district leaders praised Hudson for his achievements, noting that his dedication and range of interests reflect the qualities of a student prepared for long-term success. His recognition not only highlights personal accomplishment, but also serves as a point of pride for the Victor Valley community.
