Symba Center: Bridging Healthcare, Housing, and Hope in the High Desert

Nov 7, 2025 | Spotlight Features

In the heart of Victorville, the Symba Center stands as a powerful example of faith in action—quietly transforming lives through compassion and innovation. Located at 16902 1st Street, the nonprofit serves adults and families experiencing homelessness, chronic illness, or housing instability with a holistic approach to recovery and stability.

At its core, Symba’s mission is “to embody Christ’s love by bridging the gap in access to healthcare and housing through innovative, community-driven solutions.” This mission guides every aspect of its work, blending practical support with spiritual care and a commitment to restoring dignity and long-term wellness.

Since opening the City of Victorville’s 170-bed Wellness Center campus in December 2023, Symba has already celebrated nearly 200 program graduates. Each participant receives individualized case management, job readiness training, and housing navigation support—designed to move them from crisis to independence.

Now, Symba is preparing to achieve national certification in recuperative care services, a distinction that places it among only a few organizations nationwide offering integrated care for those recovering from illness or injury while experiencing homelessness. This certification affirms Symba’s innovative model—combining shelter, food, and healthcare to help hospital patients heal safely while working toward permanent housing.

The High Desert faces significant challenges related to homelessness and access to healthcare, and Symba’s approach provides a much-needed bridge between systems of care. By serving as the operational partner for the Wellness Center, Symba is helping transform a 4.5-acre campus into a vibrant hub of healing—complete with medical services, family housing, and supportive programs that address the full spectrum of human need.

As Symba advances toward its national certification milestone, its message remains clear: lasting change happens when compassion and community come together. To learn more about Symba’s mission or to get involved, visit www.symbacenter.org
