VVUSD Team Honored After 200-Mile Relay Raises Scholarship Funds for Adelanto Student

The Victor Valley Union High School District recently recognized a group of dedicated teachers, staff members, and administrators who went the extra mile—literally—to support local students.

During a recent Board of Trustees meeting, district leaders honored the 14-member VVUHSD team that participated in the 2026 Ragnar SoCal Relay, a demanding endurance race covering nearly 200 miles across Southern California. The team completed the event as part of a fundraising effort to support the district’s Run for a Reason Scholarship program.

As a result of those efforts, a $3,000 scholarship was awarded to Adelanto High School senior Divine Flournoy, who was selected from more than 70 applicants. Flournoy, recognized as both a standout basketball player and exceptional student-athlete, earned the scholarship for her achievements on and off the court.

Board members also took time to recognize the runners and support team members who participated in the relay, presenting certificates, commemorative plaques, and gift cards in appreciation of their commitment and teamwork.

Those honored included runners Yolanda Curlee, Tonya Curlee, Carlos Cerna, Carl Coles, Clarissa McNally, Michael Williford, Ryan Morgan, Mike Mayo, Rebecca Cook, Samantha Lillard, Michael Lillard, and Ratmony Yee, along with support drivers Heather Conkle and Paul Conkle.

The event highlighted more than athletic endurance—it reflected the district’s continued investment in students and the strong sense of community support that exists throughout the High Desert.
