Volunteers Assemble 1,000 Care Kits to Support High Desert Residents in Need

Jun 26, 2026 | Community Life

A day of volunteer service brought together Southwest Gas employees, their families, and local community partners to support individuals experiencing hardship in the Victor Valley.

As part of the Southwest Gas Foundation’s 60th Anniversary Month of Giving, volunteers gathered at the Family Assistance Program in Victorville to assemble 1,000 care kits that will be distributed to people experiencing homelessness and to youth transitioning into stable housing.

Each kit was packed with everyday necessities, including hygiene products, socks, toiletries, and other personal care items designed to provide comfort and support to those in need. Some of the kits will also benefit teens who will soon move into the Family Assistance Program’s new Tiny Home Village, currently under development.

Through the month-long initiative, the Southwest Gas Foundation is contributing $60,000 while employees throughout the company’s service area work together to assemble 6,000 care kits for communities across California, Nevada, and Arizona.

The effort also reflects Southwest Gas’ long-standing partnership with the Family Assistance Program, an organization that provides housing assistance, youth services, food programs, and other resources for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.

As the care kits reach local residents in need, the initiative serves as another example of the High Desert community coming together to provide hope, compassion, and practical support for its neighbors.
