Victor Valley College Celebrates Record-Breaking Class of 2026

Jul 2, 2026 | Schools & Sports

Victor Valley College marked a milestone this year as nearly 1,100 graduates walked across the stage during its 2026 commencement ceremony at Toyota Arena in Ontario. The celebration recognized one of the largest graduating classes in the college’s history, with approximately 2,700 students eligible to earn degrees and certificates.

Surrounded by thousands of family members, friends, faculty, and community supporters, graduates celebrated the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and personal growth. Throughout the ceremony, speakers reflected on the many different paths that led students to graduation, emphasizing that success doesn’t follow a single timeline.

Student Trustee and Associated Student Body President Hailey Reyes encouraged her classmates to embrace their individual journeys, recognizing the sacrifices many made while balancing work, family responsibilities, and other life challenges. Valedictorian Giselle Flores shared her own story of overcoming self-doubt, explaining how her experience at Victor Valley College transformed what she once viewed as a setback into a foundation for future success.

The ceremony also celebrated a groundbreaking achievement in higher education. For the first time, seven students from the Federal Correctional Complex Victorville participated in commencement in person after completing their educational programs through Victor Valley College. The milestone reflects the college’s expanding partnership with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which provides incarcerated students with access to college courses, workforce training, and educational opportunities that support successful reentry.

Superintendent and President Dr. Daniel Walden reminded graduates that character, integrity, and resilience often become life’s greatest strengths, encouraging them to continue building their futures with purpose, humility, and determination.

Beyond graduation day, Victor Valley College continues to play a vital role in the region’s growth. Serving approximately 24,000 students, the college contributes more than $553 million annually to the San Bernardino County economy through education, workforce development, and alumni contributions.

As the Class of 2026 embarks on its next chapter, the ceremony served as a reminder that every graduate’s journey is unique, but each represents the resilience, determination, and opportunity that continue to define Victor Valley College and the future of the High Desert.
