Two standout athletes from Oak Hills High School are taking the next step in their journeys, continuing both their education and football careers at the collegiate level. Jorge Mejia Zavala and Trevor Johnson were recently recognized for their achievements as they officially committed to their respective universities.
Mejia Zavala will be heading to the University of Redlands, while Johnson will continue his path at the University of La Verne—both earning the opportunity to compete at the next level while pursuing higher education.
The moment marks a significant milestone not only for the two athletes, but also for the Oak Hills community, where both have built strong reputations as dedicated and well-rounded student-athletes. Their commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the field has set a positive example for their peers and younger athletes.
Coach Metzger, the Oak Hills football coach, praised both players, highlighting their work ethic and leadership throughout their time in the program. He described them as committed, coachable individuals who consistently represented Bulldog football with pride, noting that their success is expected to continue beyond high school.
As they begin this new chapter, Mejia Zavala and Johnson carry with them the support of their school and community. Their achievements reflect the impact of hard work, discipline, and character—qualities that will continue to guide them as they move forward in both academics and athletics.
