DESCRIPTION:☀️ 13th Annual MEEC Solar Oven Cook-Off Challenge\nTeam Registration Now Open! \nThe Mojave Environmental Education Consortium (MEEC) is excited to announce that team registration is now open for the 13th Annual Solar Oven Cook-Off Challenge—a hands-on STEM competition where students harness the power of the sun to cook\, create\, and compete. \nThis engaging event invites High Desert students in grades 3–12 to apply their knowledge of science\, engineering\, and renewable energy by designing and building a solar oven\, then preparing an original dish using only solar power. \n📅 Event Details\n\n\nDate: Saturday\, May 16\, 2026 \n\n\nTime: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM \n\n\nLocation: Helendale Community Park15425 Wild Rd.\, Helendale\, CA 92342 \n\n\n🔬 Competition Overview\n\n\nTeams of 3–6 students design and construct solar cookers \n\n\nTeams demonstrate performance by preparing original food dishes \n\n\nSchools from across the Mojave Desert compete \n\n\nEach school may send up to three teams \n\n\n🎓 Grade Divisions\n\n\nGrade 3 \n\n\nGrades 4–6 \n\n\nGrades 7–9 \n\n\nGrades 10–12 \n\n\n🏆 Awards & Prizes\nGrade 3 Division \n\n\nTop Winner: $100 \n\n\nAll Other Grade DivisionsRecipe Awards: \n\n\n1st Place: $200 \n\n\n2nd Place: $100 \n\n\n3rd Place: $50 \n\n\nConstruction Awards: \n\n\n1st Place: $250 \n\n\n2nd Place: $150 \n\n\n3rd Place: $75 \n\n\n🚌 Additional Information\n\n\nTransportation grants available \n\n\nLunch and snacks provided for all student participants \n\n\nFamily and friends are welcome to attend but may not enter competition areas or receive meals \n\n\nThis is shaping up to be a sizzling STEM event you won’t want your students to miss.
