Victor Valley College recently welcomed Congressman Jay Obernolte to its Veterans Resource Center, where he met with local veterans during a gathering of his Veteran Advisory Committee to discuss issues affecting those who have served in the armed forces.

The visit brought together veterans from VVC and communities across California’s 23rd Congressional District, home to approximately 40,000 veterans, to share experiences and provide input on the resources and services available to former service members.

During the discussion, Obernolte reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the veteran community, emphasizing the importance of ensuring veterans have access to high-quality healthcare, responsive Veterans Affairs services, and the support they need after military service.

Conversations focused on several key priorities, including expanding healthcare access, strengthening workforce training and education programs, improving the transition from military service to civilian careers, and increasing opportunities and resources for veterans throughout the region.

Victor Valley College’s Veterans Resource Center continues to serve as an important hub for student veterans by connecting them with educational support, campus resources, and community partners dedicated to helping them achieve their academic and career goals.

The meeting provided an opportunity for local veterans to have their voices heard while helping shape future conversations surrounding services and support for those who have served our country.
