Bradach Elementary Secures Sprouts Grant to Grow Student Garden

Adelanto, CA — Students at Bradach Elementary School will continue to nurture their school garden thanks to a $5,000 Healthy Communities grant from Sprouts Farmers Market. This marks the second year the school has received funding from Sprouts, helping to expand a project that gives students hands-on experience with gardening and teaches them where their food comes from.

The award was presented by Victorville Sprouts representative Anthony Cook to Principal Kristina Valenzuela and Adelanto School District leaders. Valenzuela shared the school’s excitement, noting that the garden not only provides a learning opportunity but also highlights sustainability and the importance of food security for students.

Support from Bradach’s Academic Services Department has been essential in sustaining the after-school Garden Club, which brings together students from transitional kindergarten through fifth grade. Last year, about 50 students helped construct raised beds, plant crops, and maintain the garden.

Valenzuela praised the collaborative spirit that has made the garden thrive, calling it proof that “when Bradach Elementary comes together as a community, great things sprout.”
