Apollo Silver Meets with San Bernardino County Leaders to Advance Calico Project

Oct 9, 2025 | Careers & Industry

In late September, Apollo Silver Corp. met with county officials at an industry luncheon to discuss the vital role of responsible mining in driving regional economic growth. The event brought together San Bernardino County leadership to talk about permitting, development, and the future of local resource management.

San Bernardino County is already home to more than 90 active mine sites, with over $60 billion in mineral reserves permitted during the past 15 years. Apollo Silver highlighted its Calico Project near Barstow, a promising site focused on silver extraction, with additional barite and zinc resources that align with growing national interest in critical minerals.

The company noted that much of the Calico property lies on private land with established mineral rights, a factor that could simplify future permitting and development. With silver’s inclusion in the U.S. draft 2025 Critical Minerals List, Apollo’s project is well-positioned to contribute to the nation’s strategic resource goals.

Meetings like this underscore how mining continues to shape the economic landscape of the High Desert—creating jobs, supporting infrastructure, and strengthening the region’s role in America’s evolving resource strategy.
