Victorville to Launch Drone First Responder Program in 2026

Nov 7, 2025 | News

The City of Victorville is expanding its public safety technology with a Drones as First Responder (DFR) Program, set to debut in early 2026. Approved unanimously by the City Council, the three-year partnership with BRINC Drones, Inc. will make Victorville the first contract city with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to use drone technology for emergency response.

Remotely operated by FAA-licensed pilots, the drones will provide real-time video feeds to the Victorville Police Department’s crime center, helping officers assess incidents quickly, identify safety risks, and improve response times.

The program builds on Victorville’s Real-Time Information Center, which already includes ShotSpotter gunshot detection and 123 license plate readers, further enhancing transparency and proactive policing.

“This investment equips our emergency responders with the technology they need to be more effective and proactive,” said Mayor Liz Becerra. The $831,929 program is funded through the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund under Assembly Bill 3229. Learn more at VictorvilleCA.gov.
